Alec Baer scored a pair of goals to lead the Vancouver Giants to a 4-1 win over the Victoria Royals on Friday night at the Pacific Coliseum.

Baer’s goals at 15:03 and 17:36 of the third period, pushed him to eight on the season, including five in his last six games. He had 13 markers in 67 games last season, and eight goals in 60 games as a rookie.

Vancouver’s now won four of their past six games.

Carter Popoff, with his eighth, and Ty Ronning, with his team-leading 19th, had the other markers for Vancouver, who also received a 26-save outing from Ryan Kubic.

Jack Walker tallied for Victoria, tying the score at 1-1 in the second period after Ronning had opened the scoring earlier in the frame. It was Walker’s ninth of the season.

It’s the first of four games in a row between the Giants (9-18-2-2) and Royals (19-9-1-1). They’re in Victoria today (7:05 p.m.) and Sunday (3 p.m.) and back in Vancouver on Wednesday.

The Giants finish off the pre-Christmas schedule with a home-and-home against the Everett Silvertips next weekend.
